I am becoming…

courageous. fearless. bold.

I’m a dreamer. Always have been. I used to believe that anything I wanted to do, I could. At the same time, I’ve always loved Jesus and when I felt the Lord calling me into ministry as a young adult, I was excited to apply the same can-do attitude to my faith.

I fell even more in love with Jesus, and it’s like the pieces of my childhood passions started fitting together in new and exciting ways. Writing about Jesus through blogs, online articles, and journals became my passion. I attended Bible college, got my ministry degree, and set out to follow God's voice.

Along the way, my faith was tested.

I started She is Courageous as almost a self-motivation when my passions began to face opposition. I felt so strongly that the Lord was calling me to grow in my faith, develop my passions, and share it - but continued to face challenges. It wasn't just issues with my own ability to accomplish something, but whether I was even qualified to. I struggled with my worth, because rather than allowing God to define it for me, I was looking for it in others. And I realized something:

As long as I was looking for the approval and validation of others, I was going to crumble when they didn't give it.

Instead, I had to fix my eyes on God and listen to his voice. It sometimes required tuning out the negative voices.

I think this is an issue many of us face. We hear God about a dream or a passion of ours, and as soon as we set off to do it, we get knocked off our feet. When others don’t rush to encourage us, when we face doubt, insecurity, and any other obstacle, we get discouraged. We may question whether we hear God. We may even wonder if we should give up.

But faith takes courage.

My prayer for you is that everything on this site feeds your courage and helps you find the motivation to keep moving forward. To find the desire to keep digging deeper into God’s heart for you. I am by no means perfect, but each day is another opportunity to grow closer to the lover of my soul. Let’s do it together!

Welcome to My life, my world, my heart!

Hey there! My name is Rachel, and these pictures above show my beautiful little family! I’ve been married to my husband Rudy for four years, and we have two kids, Avery & Elliot.

I have a passion for Jesus, writing, and coffee. I love being able to share what God is doing in my life and help people see His goodness, faithfulness, and love. I believe growth is what keeps life interesting and impactful, so I am always striving to learn more about who God is, who I am, and how to live my life to the fullest!

So, that’s my goal for this site - growth, Jesus, and just sharing life with you! I hope as you visit, you feel inspired and encouraged. Don’t forget to check me out on Medium, which is where I write on deeper issues with faith, the Church, and more.
