SHE READS TRUTH

There’s nothing better than having a Bible you really, really love, right? When I was in school at the King’s University, I had a NKJV Bible that was as basic as it gets - no devotionals, no major footnotes, just a few cross references and a brief intro paragraph for each book - and I loved it. I loved it because it suited that season of needing to quickly jump from book to book, and it was the version that I needed as I went through school. I used that thing so much that I could memorize where a verse was located on the page, and I even used the little ribbon marker so much that it came out.

Since then I’ve had the hardest time finding a replacement. I don’t really need a NKJV Bible for my day-to-day use, since I really enjoy more dynamic translations. Last year I spent most of my time using the Bible app so I could switch between different versions easily. I had a NIV Bible that I sort of enjoyed, but it was a Bible journal and I think all of the blank space was a little too intimidating. Anyways.

I FINALLY FOUND ONE!

I found a Bible I really, really love - and I can’t wait to share it with you!

the “she reads truth” bible

This Bible has a lot of great features, and for one that is purposefully designed with aesthetics in mind, it really has a lot to offer. Here are a few things I love about it:

  • Devotional Studies - These are scattered throughout the Bible and focus on applying whatever Scripture you are reading to the gospel.

  • Maps - Some books will have a map of the area to provide context onwhere the book takes place.

  • Reading Plans - If you are really wanting to dive into a book of the Bible, this Bible has ways for you to dive into a deeper study by providing corresponding passages to the chapters you’re reading.

  • Charts - This is a huge win! This Bible has charts that connect different parts of the Bible to each other. For example, there is one (pictured above) that helps link the Psalms with Jesus by pointing out the prophetic message of the Messiah in Psalms with the fulfillment of that word in the New Testament. So cool!

  • Translation - I really enjoy that this Bible is CSB (Christian Standard Bible which is an updated version of the HCSB, Holman Christian Standard Bible). They describe this translation as “optimal equivalence”, which strikes a balance between formal (word-for-word) and dynamic (thought-for-thought) equivalence. I’m one of those people that gets really bored by NIV, so I enjoy the nuances of this translation. (I’ll stop being a nerd now).

If you’ve been looking for a Bible and haven’t really fallen in love with one, I encourage you to look into this one and give it a try. It’s just the amount of “study” I need to enjoy it without being overwhelmed, and you just can’t beat a really solid translation!

Even better, the price of this Bible is actually really doable! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve wanted a Bible and just couldn’t afford the really fancy ones that could be as much as $80-$100. The She Reads Truth Bible is only around $40! I heard of this Bible before and really wanted to try it, but just assumed it was out of my price range for the longest time. When I realized it was only $35-40, I was kicking myself that I didn’t get it sooner.
